    White Christian Nationalism is a fusion of white supremacy and Christian Nationalism with historical roots in Christian supremacy. Bishop Shin will explore the historical development and the biblical hermeneutic of Christian Nationalism. 

    The Rt. Rev. Allen K. Shin is the Suffragan Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of New York and has a rich background as a professional musician, parish priest, scholar, and leader shaped by his formation in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

    Join us for an engaging 11-session journey that explores American history, faith, and the legacy of race and racism through powerful films, readings, and guided conversation. Rooted in the Episcopal Church’s call to faith, hope, and love, Sacred Ground invites us to reflect, listen, and grow together. 

    Sessions meet Monday evenings on Zoom, Additional dates: Feb 9, 23; Mar 2, 16, 30; Apr 13, 20, 27; May 4, 11. 

    Participants are asked to commit to all sessions and purchase two paperback books.

  • Candlemas Choral Eucharist

    Join the Choir of Men & Boys and the St Cecilia Choir of Girls for this special celebration commemorating the Presentation of Christ in the Temple (Candlemas). The service begins in the Chapel, followed by a candlelit procession into the church and a solemn Choral Eucharist. Music includes Missa Aedis Christi by Mathias, When to the temple Mary went by Eccard, and Holst’s sublime setting of Nunc Dimittis.

Christ Church Outreach serves to identify areas where our parish can best channel our individual and shared resources to bettering the life of less advantaged. Come to the Forum to learn more about CCG Outreach and ways in which you can become involved.

  • Courage & Faith Presents: Fr. James Martin

    Join us for a rare chance to hear the globally renowned Fr. James Martin tell his story in his own words—honest, funny, searching, and deeply faithful, based on his newest book, Work in Progress.  He began his career in the finance world in NYC when he found his calling and has spent an incredible life as one of the most trusted public voices for the Catholic Church.

    A Jesuit priest, he has worked in global outreach programs and hospitals caring for the sick and dying. He is an author or editor of more than 30 books and served as ABC News lead Vatican and conclave commentator for the election of Pope Francis, Pope Francis’s funeral, and the 2025 conclave that elected Pope Leo XIV.  He is a Vatican consultor and voting member of the Synod of Bishops in Rome (2021–2024), personally appointed by Pope Francis.

    The Very Rev. Dr. Andrew McGowan, former Dean of Berkely Divinity School at Yale. 

    Every week Episcopalians celebrate a ritual in memory of Jesus using bread and wine. But what meaning did bread have in the ancient Mediterranean setting where Jesus ate and shared food with his disciples and others? What can bread tell us about the nature of his ministry or about the character of Christian community? Andrew McGowan, a scholar of early Christian ritual and meals, shares insights, including recent archaeological discoveries, that help us understand what the bread of the earliest Eucharists may have been like and what it meant to the participants.

    “The Lord’s Prayer: the Ultimate Way of Connecting with God” 

    Join our Rector in Lent as we spend four evenings learning about this profound prayer and the impact that it has had on our faith. Each night will begin with wine and the Lord’s Prayer.

    Jesus’ disciples knew that there was something different about him. They sensed he had special powers, and they wanted to know more about where these mysterious powers came from. So, they asked him, “Lord, teach us how to pray.” Jesus taught them a short prayer (55 words when translated into English) that is simply known as “the Lord’s Prayer.” It is the most famous prayer in history, and it reveals volumes about the inner life of Jesus, his relationship with God, and our calling as Christians.  

    $80 per person for the series includes a full meal with wine, followed by a 20 min talk.

    The remarkable and inspiring story of how, after a twenty-year journey through China’s ancient heartland, Ricci became the first Westerner welcomed into the Forbidden City— and earned lasting admiration as a Confucian scholar. 

    Greenwich resident Robert Henry is an Oxford graduate and former head of Coopers & Lybrand’s International Tax Consulting Practice. He and his wife have lived and traveled extensively throughout Asia, deepening his lifelong interests in linguistics, history, and comparative religion. Ordained a deacon more than forty years ago, he continues his ministry with Saint Catherine’s in Riverside while writing and lecturing, including his recent work Shen’s Unlikely Journey.

    Nicholas Burns served as U.S. Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from 2021–2025. He will discuss the many challenges in our highly competitive relationship with Xi Jinping’s China. Ambassador Burns has had a long career in American diplomacy as a career Foreign Service Officer serving six Presidents and nine Secretaries of State from both parties.     One of the most ancient liturgies of the church, we commemorate the resurrection of Christ by igniting the new Easter (paschal) flame; hearing the stories of God’s saving love through the generations; baptizing new Christians; and celebrating the first Eucharist of Easter. Begin the service outside for the lighting of the fire. The Christ Church Singers sing for the lighting of the Easter fire and the first Eucharist of Easter. Music includes a mass setting by Leighton, and anthems by Claude Means and Richard Shepherd

    Professor Susan Herbst is a University Professor of Political Science and President Emeritus at the University of Connecticut. A noted scholar of public opinion, media, and American politics, she has authored multiple books and previously held senior academic leadership roles, including Executive Vice Chancellor of the University System of Georgia.
