Christ Blessing the Children Window

This window was created by Hoggson Brothers in New York City in 1910. It is in memory of Charles Paul Geddes, 1857-1909.

Jesus blessing the children is in reference to when his followers would bring him children to bless and heal, but his disciples were trying to dismiss the children.  Jesus immediately rebukes the disciples and states that it is the wonder of children that lead directly to heaven.  The Reverend Kate Moorehead shared a daily devotion inviting us to all return to our child like wonder about people that look and act differently from us instead of judging.

The memorial panel reads, “Seek ye first…the kingdom of God and …His righteousness.”  A lovely invitation to see through God’s lens first in all that we encounter.

God our Creator, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
