Christ and two disciples Window
Created by Arthur & Ethel B. Norris in New Rochelle, New York from 1950. It was given in memory of Mariana Townsend Reed Look, 1867-1942.
Jesus is with Peter and John in the upper room from the last supper. These two disciples are the foundation of the church and were the two that Christ asked to prepare the last supper. There are many symbols incorporated into these two windows. Christ holding the bread and Peter and John sitting with the jug of wine. Jesus’s rob of red to symbolize his blood shed for our sins. The mountains and blue sky in the background could be a way to show the calm before the incredibly brutal crucifixion. As you contemplate this window, what else do you see?
My Jesus, I believe that you are truly present in the Blessed Sacrament of the altar. I love you and above all things and long for you in my soul. Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though you have already come, I embrace you and unite myself entirely to you; never permit me to be separated from you. Amen.
St. Alphonsus de Liguori, 1696-1787. The prayer we said during COVID when we could not receive Communion in real life.
