Barbara Flower Murphy brings to Christ Church, Greenwich, a life-long passion for volunteerism and service. Active in all of her home parishes, Barbara has served on Parish Council, coordinated the Family Mass Committee, and has for over twenty years offered leadership to the church’s Food Pantry Committee. It was this later role that led her to serve on the Board of Directors of the Community Center of Northern Westchester in Katonah, which provides food, clothing, counseling, and a host of other supports to those most in need. Additionally, Barbara has shared her passion for reading as a member of Literacy Volunteers and has supported the elementary learning needs of her five children as an in-class parent volunteer. A graduate of Iona College, Barbara has worked for IBM, the Board of Cooperative Educational Services, and most recently St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, New York, serving as Parish Secretary. Married to her husband for 34 years, Barbara is most at home in her garden, in a book, or in the company of her two daughters and three sons.
